Come On You Reds – Manchester United Football Squad (1994)

An individual, limited edition, example of vinyl record art made from a genuine, original, 45rpm, 7” single featuring the single by the Manchester United Football Squad from 1994, Come On You Reds. The record was released on the Penny Farthing record label in the UK, and has been reworked into the shape of a soccer / football shirt. Available in long and short sleeved Football shirt versions.

Come On You Reds is a song recorded by the 1994 Manchester United football squad along with the rock group Status Quo. It first entered the UK Singles Chart on 30 April 1994, four weeks before the 1994 FA Cup Final, and remained there for a total of 15 weeks, reaching a two-week high of number-one.

The song is the only (as of 2016) club side football single to reach number 1 in the UK chart – however, “Three Lions” (in 1996 and 1998), “Back Home” (in 1970), “World in Motion” (in 1990) and “Shout” (in 2010) have all topped the charts for the England national side.

With Status Quo involved in the recording of the track, it was decided that the band’s 1988 single “Burning Bridges” would form the basis of the song, with altered lyrics to suit the Manchester United theme.
