Additional information about this, Plastic Ono Band vinyl art.

The Artist/s – Plastic Ono Band

The Plastic Ono Band was a rock band formed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1969 for their collaborative and solo projects. Lennon and Ono began a personal and artistic relationship in 1968, collaborating on several experimental releases. Following their marriage in 1969, they decided their future endeavours would be credited to a conceptual and collaborative vehicle, Plastic Ono Band. The band featured a rotating lineup of musicians including Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann, Alan White, Billy Preston, Jim Keltner, Keith Moon, Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, and Lennon’s former Beatles bandmates George Harrison and Ringo Starr. After the Lennons’ move to New York, they collaborated with Elephant’s Memory under the moniker of the “Plastic Ono Elephant’s Memory Band”. Lennon’s collaborations continued under similar names, until the winding down of the concept in 1974.

Give Peace a Chance – The Song

‘Give Peace a Chanceis an anti-war song written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon–McCartney), and performed with Yoko Ono in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Released as a single in July 1969 by the Plastic Ono Band on Apple Records, it is the first solo single issued by Lennon, released while he was still a member of the Beatles, and became an anthem of the American anti-war movement during the 1970s. It peaked at number 2 on the British singles chart and number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The V Hand Signal  – The Shape

This record is modelled into the silhouette of a peace symbol  finger and hand gesture. A number of peace symbols have been used many ways in various cultures and contexts. The dove and olive branch was used symbolically by early Christians and then eventually became a secular peace symbol. In the 1950s the “peace sign”, as it is known today, was designed by Gerald Holtom as the logo for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), a group at the forefront of the peace movement in the UK, and adopted by anti-war and counterculture activists in the US and elsewhere. The V hand signal and the peace flag also became international peace symbols. The most common recent ‘Peace’ Flag design is a rainbow flag representing peace, first used in Italy at a peace march in 1961. The flag was inspired by similar multi-coloured flags used in demonstrations against nuclear weapons.

A peace movement is a social movement that seeks to achieve ideals such as the ending of a particular war (or all wars), minimise inter-human violence in a particular place or type of situation, and is often linked to the goal of achieving world peace.
