Additional information about this, Minnie Riperton vinyl art.

Minnie Riperton – The Artist

Minnie Julia Riperton-Rudolph (1947 – J1979), known professionally as Minnie Riperton, was an American singer-songwriter best known for her 1975 single “Lovin’ You” and her four-octave coloratura soprano. She is also widely known for her use of the whistle register and has been referred to by the media as the “Queen of the whistle register”. The whistle register (also called the flute register or whistle tone) is the highest register of the human voice, lying above the modal register and falsetto register.

Lovin’ You – The Song

Lovin’ You  is a 1975 song originally performed by American singer Minnie Riperton from her second studio album Perfect Angel. It was written by Riperton and Richard Rudolph, produced by Rudolph and Stevie Wonder. It became a big hit in the UK and the US. The song is especially known for Riperton’s use of the high whistle register in the song’s bridge, and for the chirping songbirds heard throughout. It was the fourth single from Riperton’s album Perfect Angel (1974). As with the rest of the album, the keyboard backing is played by Stevie Wonder (credited as “El Toro Negro”, Spanish for the black bull, as Wonder is a Taurus). According to the liner notes from Riperton’s compilation album Petals, the melody for “Lovin’ You” was created to be a distraction for her baby daughter (Maya Rudolph) so that Minnie and her husband Richard could hang out.

The Songbird – The Shape

A songbird is a bird belonging to the clade Passeri of the perching birds. Another name that is sometimes seen as a scientific or vernacular name is Oscines, from Latin oscen, “a songbird”. This group contains 5000 or so species found all over the world, in which the vocal organ typically is developed in such a way as to produce a diverse and elaborate bird song.
