Additional information about this, Desmond Dekker and the Aces  vinyl art.

Desmond Dekker and the Aces – The Artist/s

Desmond Dekker (born Desmond Adolphus Dacres; 1941 – 2006) was a Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae singer-songwriter and musician. Together with his backing group the Aces (consisting of Wilson James and Easton Barrington Howard), he had one of the earliest international reggae hits with “Israelites” (1968). Other hits include “007 (Shanty Town)” (1967), “It Mek” (1969) and “You Can Get It If You Really Want” (1970).

007 Shanty Town – The Song

007 (Shanty Town) is a 1967 rocksteady song by Jamaican band Desmond Dekker and the Aces, released as a single from their debut album of the same name. It was also a hit for Musical Youth in 1983. “007 (Shanty Town)” has been called “the most enduring and archetypal” rude boy song. Its title and lyrics refer to the cool imagery of films such as the James Bond series and Ocean’s 11, admired by “rudies”.

James Bond 007 – The Shape

This record had been modelled into a silhouette of  the fictional secret agent James Bond 007 . The James Bond franchise focuses on the titular character, a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. Since Fleming’s death in 1964, eight other authors have written authorised Bond novels or novelisations: Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Jeffery Deaver, William Boyd, Anthony Horowitz and Charlie Higson. The latest novel is On His Majesty’s Secret Service by Charlie Higson, published in May 2023. Additionally, Charlie Higson wrote a series on a young James Bond, and Kate Westbrook wrote three novels based on the diaries of a recurring series character, Moneypenny.

A shanty town is a settlement of improvised buildings known as shanties or shacks.
