Additional information about this Feargal Sharkey vinyl art.

Feargal Sharkey – The Artist

Seán Feargal Sharkey OBE (born1958) is a singer from Northern Ireland most widely known as the lead vocalist of pop punk band The Undertones in the 1970s and 1980s, and for solo works in the 1980s and 1990s. His 1985 solo single “A Good Heart” was an international success. After becoming less musically active in the early 1990s, he has performed various roles supporting the UK’s commercial music industry, winning several awards and honours for his work in that area.

A Good Heart – The Song

“A Good Heart” is a song by Northern Irish singer Feargal Sharkey, released as the first single from his self-titled debut album. It was released in 1985 on Virgin Records. Written by Maria McKee about her relationship with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboard player Benmont Tench and produced by the Eurythmics’ David A. Stewart, this was former Undertones singer Feargal Sharkey’s third solo single. The song was Sharkey’s only number one single and stayed at the top of the UK Singles Chart for two weeks in November 1985.

The Heart – The Shape

This record has been modelled into a a loving heart with a good mark tick cut into it to symbolise the ‘good’. The heart shape and its meaning has evolved over hundreds of years. Nowadays it means love but before the 13th and 14th centuries it was generally drawn for decorative purposes. People at that time thought of our hearts as books of memory and believed feelings for the beloved were somehow written on your heart.
