Additional information about this Acker Bilk vinyl art.

Acker Bilk – The Artist

Bernard Stanley Bilk, MBE (1929 – 2014), known professionally as Acker Bilk, was a British clarinettist and vocalist known for his breathy, vibrato-rich, lower-register style, and distinctive appearance – of goatee, bowler hat and striped waistcoat.
Bilk’s 1962 instrumental tune “Stranger on the Shore” became the UK’s biggest selling single of 1962. It spent more than 50 weeks on the UK charts, peaking at number two, and was the second No. 1 single in the United States by a British artist.

Aria – The Song

“Aria” is a piece for clarinet written by Bardotti. D. Baldan Bembo and performed by Acker Bilk. It was taken from his studio album ‘The One With Me’.

The Bowler Hat – The Shape

This record has been cut into the unmistakable shape of Acker Bilks bowler hat. The bowler hat, also known as a billycock, bob hat, bombín (Spanish) or derby (United States), is a hard felt hat with a rounded crown, originally created by the London hat-makers Thomas and William Bowler in 1849. It has traditionally been worn with semi-formal and informal attire. The bowler, a protective and durable hat style, was popular with the British, Irish, and American working classes during the second half of the 19th century, and later with the middle and upper classes in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the east coast United States.
