Additional information about this, Shalamar vinyl art.

Shalamar – The Artist

Shalamar is an American R&B and soul music vocal group, active in the mid-1970s and throughout the 1980s, that was originally a disco-driven vehicle created by Soul Train booking agent Dick Griffey and show creator and producer Don Cornelius. They went on to be an influential dance trio, masterminded by Cornelius. As noted in the British Hit Singles & Albums, they were regarded as fashion icons and trendsetters, and helped to introduce “body-popping” to the United Kingdom. Their collective name, “Shalamar“, was picked by Griffey.

Take That To The Bank – The Song

Take That To The Bank is a single by American R&B group Shalamar, released in 1978 on the SOLAR label. It was lifted from the second album “Disco Gardens” and features the line-up of Gerald Brown, Jeffrey Daniel and Jody Watley, and was the only Shalamar album on which Brown appeared.  The lyrics are littered with financial banking references such as borrow, security, interest, save, invest, and is about a man who wants his sweetheart to ‘Open your account to me’ and invest in their relationship.

The Bank – The Shape

Modelled into a vintage styled brick built bank, complete with columns and steps. To strengthen the link between the song and a bank this investment bank has a heart set under the pitch of its roof which makes it a love bank.
