The Beatles – The Artist

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. With members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they became regarded as the foremost and most influential music band in history. Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock and roll, the group were integral to pop music’s evolution into an art form and to the development of the counterculture of the 1960s. They often incorporated classical elements, older pop forms and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways, and later experimented with several musical styles ranging from pop ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock. As the members continued to draw influences from a variety of cultural sources, their musical and lyrical sophistication grew, and they were seen as an embodiment of the era’s sociocultural movements. The Beatles are the best-selling band in history, with estimated sales of over 800 million records worldwide. They disbanded in 1970 and embarked on successful solo projects.

Day Tripper – The Song

Day Tripper is a song by the English pop band the Beatles that was released as a double A-side single with “We Can Work It Out” in December 1965. Written primarily by John Lennon, it was credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. Both songs were recorded during the sessions for the band’s Rubber Soul album.  The song has many jokes and double meanings within it.

The Vintage London double decker – The Shape

This record has been modelled into a vintage London Double decker bus of the records period. It was the kind of public transport bus that someone may use for a day trip out. A double-decker bus is a bus that has two storeys or decks. Double-decker buses are used for mass transport in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and many former European possessions, the best-known example being the red London bus.Early double-deckers put the driver in a separate cab. Passenger access was via an open platform at the rear, and a bus conductor would collect fares. Modern double-deckers have a main entrance door at the front, and the driver takes fares, thus halving the number of bus workers aboard, but slowing the boarding process. The rear open platform, popular with passengers, was abandoned for safety reasons, as there was a risk of passengers falling when running and jumping onto the bus. Double-deckers are primarily for commuter transport but open-top models are used as sight-seeing buses for tourists.
