Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) – The Artist/s
The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970 by songwriters-multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood with drummer Bev Bevan. Their music is characterised by a fusion of Beatlesque pop, classical arrangements and futuristic iconography. After Wood’s departure in 1972, Lynne became the band’s sole leader, arranging and producing every album while writing nearly all of their original material. For their initial tenure, Lynne, Bevan and keyboardist Richard Tandy were the group’s only consistent members.
Evil Woman – The Song
‘Evil Woman’ is a song recorded by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and written by lead vocalist Jeff Lynne. It was first released on the band’s fifth album, 1975’s Face the Music. When released as a single in late 1975, the song became the band’s first worldwide hit. The song placed in the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic in early 1976. It was released again in 1978 on The ELO EP. The lyric “There’s a hole in my head where the rain comes in” in the song is a tribute to The Beatles’ song “Fixing a Hole”.
Maleficent – The Shape
This record has been modelled into the Disney character, Maleficent. Maleficent is a 2014 American fantasy film starring Angelina Jolie as the title character in a live-action retelling of her villainous role in Walt Disney’s 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty, itself an adaptation of the 1697 fairy tale. The film was directed by Robert Stromberg and written by Linda Woolverton. It also stars Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville. The 2014 film Maleficent reimagines the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty by telling the story from the perspective of the titular “evil” fairy. It follows Maleficent, a powerful fairy who guards the magical Moors. Her life is shattered when her human love, Stefan, betrays her by stealing her wings to gain a kingdom. Driven to darkness and revenge, Maleficent curses Stefan’s daughter, Aurora, but later forms a bond with the young princess and finds a path to redemption through love, turning the traditional narrative into a story about a woman reclaiming her power.
