Depeche Mode – The Artist

Depeche Mode are an English electronic band formed in Basildon, Essex in 1980. The group consists of founders Dave Gahan (lead vocals, co-songwriting), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, chief songwriting), and Andy Fletcher (keyboards, bass guitar). Depeche Mode released their debut album Speak & Spell in 1981, bringing the band onto the British new wave scene. Founding member Vince Clarke left after the release of the album; they recorded A Broken Frame (1982) as a trio. Gore took over the lead songwriting and, later in 1982, Alan Wilder joined to fill Clarke’s spot, establishing a lineup that continued for 13 years.

Get The Balance Right- The Song

‘Get The Balance Right’  is the seventh single by British band Depeche Mode, released in January 1983. Recorded at Blackwing Studios, it is the first Depeche Mode single with Alan Wilder as an official band member (Wilder also co-wrote the B-side track “The Great Outdoors!”). “Get the Balance Right!” was not included on the following album Construction Time Again, but does appear on the American compilation People Are People and the compilation The Singles 81–85. The whole song is written as someone of moral character is giving someone else advice on how to be. Like a parent advising a child. Life is a compromise and not always perfect. Work hard but keep the balance right between work and play.
