Pat Benatar – The Artist

Patricia Mae Andrzejewski (born 1953), known professionally as Pat Benatar, is a multi-million record selling American rock singer-songwriter. Benatar’s 1979 debut album, In the Heat of the Night, was her breakthrough album. Two singles from it were hits: “Heartbreaker” and “We Live for Love”, the latter written by her lead guitarist and future husband, Neil Giraldo. Benatar’s second album, 1980’s Crimes of Passion, was her most successful work. Its single “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” was a chart topper both in the UK and the US and is considered to be her best-known song. Benatar’s sound began to move towards more atmospheric pop in 1983. The single “Love Is a Battlefield” (1983) was her biggest hit in most countries. Benatar released four additional albums between 1991 and 2003 and was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot – The Song

‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot  is a song recorded by American rock singer Pat Benatar and written by Eddie Schwartz. In 1980, it was released as the second single from her second album Crimes of Passion, which became her biggest selling album. “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” sold well over a million copies all round the world. The song is one of Benatar’s most recognisable tracks. Heard at many baseball and soccer games, especially in the US, the song has been featured on many compilation albums, including both multi-artist works as well as those just focusing on Benatar. Schwartz said that he came up with the title of the song after attending a “pillow punching” therapy session in Toronto, but stated that the title is to be taken metaphorically.

The Gun / Rifle Target – The Shape

This record has been modelled into the silhouette of  a human shaped shooting target as often used in a gun and rifle practice range. Shooting targets are objects in various forms and shapes that are used for pistol, rifle, shotgun and other shooting sports, as well as in darts, target archery, crossbow shooting and other non-firearm related sports. The centre is often called the bullseye. Targets can for instance be made of paper, “self healing” rubber or steel.

A shooting range, firing range or gun range is a specialised facility, venue or field designed specifically for firearm usage qualifications, training, practice or competitions. Some shooting ranges are operated by military or law enforcement agencies, though the majority of ranges are privately owned by civilians and sporting clubs and cater mostly to recreational shooters.
