Cat Stevens – The Artists

Yusuf Islam (born Steven Demetre Georgiou; 1948), commonly known by his stage name Cat Stevens, and later Yusuf, is a British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His 1967 debut album reached the top 10 in the UK, and its title song “Matthew and Son” reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. Stevens’ albums Tea for the Tillerman (1970) and Teaser and the Firecat (1971) were certified triple platinum in the US by the RIAA.His musical style consists of folk, pop, rock, and, in his later career, Islamic music. In 1977, Stevens converted to Islam and adopted the name Yusuf Islam the following year. In 1979, he auctioned all of his guitars for charity and left his musical career to devote himself to educational and philanthropic causes in the Muslim community.

I Love My Dog – The Song

I Love My Dog is a song written by Cat Stevens, and was his first single (b/w “Portobello Road”), appearing the following year on his debut album Matthew and Son. Stevens later acknowledged that he had essentially written the lyrics to the music of American jazz multi-instrumentalist Yusef Lateef’s “The Plum Blossom”, from his 1961 Eastern Sounds. Stevens indicated that he “told Yusef Lateef about it, gave him a big cheque, and in fact, started paying him royalties.” The song, “I Love My Dog” is now released with credits that include Yusef Lateef. It was also release as the B-side to the single “Matthew And Sons.”  Apparently Stevens wrote this song about a dachshund he found tied to a post when he was young. When nobody claimed the dog, he took it home and grew attached to it.

Springer Spaniel Dog – The Shape

Modelled into an English Springer Spaniel posed in a sitting position.. The English Springer Spaniel is a breed of gun dog in the Spaniel family traditionally used for flushing and retrieving game. It is an affectionate, excitable breed with a typical lifespan of twelve to fourteen years. They are very similar to the Welsh Springer Spaniel and are descended from the Norfolk or Shropshire Spaniels of the mid-19th century; the breed has diverged into separate show and working lines.
