Additional information about this Depeche Mode vinyl art.

Depeche Mode – The Artist/s

Depeche Mode are an English electronic band formed in Basildon, Essex in 1980. The group consists of founders Dave Gahan (lead vocals, co-songwriting), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, chief songwriting), and Andy Fletcher (keyboards). Depeche Mode released their debut album Speak & Spell in 1981, bringing the band onto the British new wave scene. Original band member Vince Clarke, left the band after the release of the album to form Yazoo. Alan Wilder officially joined the band to fill Clarke’s spot, establishing a line up that would continue for the next 13 years.

Master And Servant – The Song

Master and Servant is written by Martin Gore and is Depeche Mode’s eleventh UK single and the second single from the Some Great Reward album. It’s subject matter is BDSM relationships, which at the time caused some controversy. The overtly sexual, BDSM-themed lyrics of Master and Servant — complete with synthesised whip-and-chain sound effects — reportedly meant that the song was banned by some radio stations and narrowly avoided a radio ban by the BBC as well. Despite this it became one of their best known hits.

The Cyberman -The Shape

The Cybermen are a fictional race of cyborgs who are among the most persistent enemies of the Doctor in the British science fiction television programme, Doctor Who. Within the context of the series, the Cybermen are a species of emotionless space-faring cyborgs who look to co-opt humans to join and populate their ranks. They like to master a race and make servants of all humans and frequently chant the command to obey. A mainstay of Doctor Who since the 1960s, the Cybermen have also appeared in related programs and spin-off media, including novels, audiobooks, comic books, and video games. Cybermen stories were produced in officially licensed Doctor Who products between 1989 and 2005, when the TV show was off the air, with writers either filling historical gaps or depicting new encounters between them and the Doctor.
