Billy Connolly – The Artist
Sir William Connolly, CBE (born 1942) is a retired Scottish stand-up comedian, musician, presenter, actor and artist. He is sometimes known, especially in his homeland, by the Scots nickname “The Big Yin” (“The Big One”). Connolly’s first solo album, Billy Connolly Live!, was produced, with a mixture of comedic songs and short monologues. Known for his idiosyncratic and often off-the-cuff observational comedy, which frequently includes the use of profanity, Connolly was voted in 2007 the greatest stand-up comic on Channel 4’s 100 Greatest Stand-Ups,and again in the updated 2010 poll.
No Chance (No Charge) – The Song
‘No Chance (No Charge)’ is the spoof cover version by Billy Connolly of a country song originally written by Haarland Howard. The original single reached Number 1 in the UK Singles Chart in June 1976, where it remained for one week.
The Cash Register – The Shape
This record has been modelled into the shape of a vintage cash register from the period that the song was released. A cash register, sometimes called a till or automated money handling system, is a mechanical or electronic device for registering and calculating transactions at a point of sale. It is usually attached to a drawer for storing cash and other valuables. A modern cash register is usually attached to a printer that can print out receipts for record-keeping purposes.
