Additional information about this Elton John vinyl art.

Elton John – The Artist

Sir Elton Hercules John CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight) is an English singer, pianist, and composer. He has worked with lyricist Bernie Taupin as his songwriting partner since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums to date. In his five-decade career Elton John has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world. He has also composed music, produced records, and has occasionally acted in films.

Pinball Wizard – The Song

Pinball Wizard is is a song written by Pete Townshend and performed by the English rock band the Who, and featured on their 1969 rock opera album Tommy.  This version of the song was performed by Elton John in Ken Russell’s 1975 film adaptation of Tommy. Elton John’s version uses a piano as the song’s centrepiece in place of the acoustic guitar in the original and features additional lyrics specially written by Townshend for the movie version. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a pinball champion, called “Local Lad” in the Tommy libretto book, astounded by the skills of the opera’s eponymous main character, Tommy Walker.

The Vintage Pinball Machine – The Shape

Modelled into the silhoutte of a vintage pinball machine. Pinball is a type of arcade game, in which points are scored by a player manipulating one or more metallic balls on a play field inside a glass-covered cabinet called a pinball machine. The primary objective of the game is to score as many points as possible, often within a limited time. Many modern pinball machines include a “storyline” where the player must complete certain objectives in a certain fashion to complete the story, usually earning high scores for different methods of completing the game. Different amount of points are earned when the ball strikes different targets on the play field. A drain is situated at the bottom of the play field, partially protected by player-controlled paddles called flippers. A game ends after all the balls fall into the drain a certain number of times. Secondary objectives are to maximise the time spent playing (by earning “extra balls” and keeping the ball in play as long as possible) and to earn bonus games (known as “replays”)
