Boney M. – The Artist

Boney M. was a Euro-Caribbean vocal group created by German record producer Frank Farian. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the group’s official line-up were Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, Maizie Williams from Montserrat and Bobby Farrell, a performing artist from Aruba. The group was formed in 1976 and achieved popularity during the disco era of the late 1970s. Since the 1980s, various line-ups of the band have performed with different personnel. The band has sold around 80 million records worldwide and is known for international hits such as “Daddy Cool”, “Ma Baker”, “Sunny”, “Rasputin”, “Mary’s Boy Child – Oh My Lord” and “Rivers of Babylon”.

Rasputin – The Song

‘Rasputinis a song by German-based pop and Eurodisco group Boney M. It was released on August 28, 1978 as the second single from their third studio album Nightflight to Venus (1978). Written by the group’s creator Frank Farian, along with George Reyam and Fred Jay, it is a song about Grigori Rasputin, a friend and advisor of Tsar Nicholas II and his family during the early 20th century. The song describes Rasputin as a playboy, mystical healer, and political manipulator.

Rasputin – The Shape

This record has been modelled into the silhouette of  Rasputin. Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin[n  [1869 – 1916) was a Russian mystic and faith healer. He is best known for having befriended the imperial family of Nicholas II, the last Emperor of Russia, through whom he gained considerable influence in the final years of the Russian Empire.
