Falco – The Artist

Johann Hölzel (1957 – 1998), better known by his stage name Falco, was an Austrian singer and songwriter. Falco had several international hits including “Rock Me Amadeus” and “Vienna Calling”. According to his estate, he has sold 20 million albums and 40 million singles, which makes him the best-selling Austrian singer of all time.

Rock Me Amadeus – The Song

“Rock Me Amadeus” is a song recorded by Austrian musician Falco, for his third studio album Falco 3 (1985). The single was available in 1985 in German-speaking Europe, through A&M. “Rock Me Amadeus” was written by Falco along with Dutch music producers Bolland & Bolland. The single became the only German language song to top the singles charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Originally recorded in German, the song is about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, his popularity and his debts. The song was inspired by the movie Amadeus. For the UK and US release, the song was remixed with an English background overlay.

Amadeus Mozart – The Shape

This record has been modelled into the bust of Mozart. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791), was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical period. Born in Salzburg, Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17, Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his early death at the age of 35. The circumstances of his death have been much mythologized. He composed more than 600 works, many of which are acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. He is considered among the greatest classical composers of all time, and his influence on Western music is profound.
