Commodores – The Artist/s
Commodores is an American funk and soul band, which was at its peak in the late 1970s through the mid 1980s. The members of the group met as mostly freshmen at Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) in 1968, and signed with Motown in November 1972, having first caught the public eye opening for the Jackson 5 while on tour. The group’s most successful period was in the late 1970s and early 1980s when Lionel Richie was the co-lead singer. The band’s biggest hit singles are ballads such as “Easy”, “Three Times a Lady”, and “Nightshift”; and funky dance hits which include “Brick House”, “Fancy Dancer”, “Lady (You Bring Me Up)”, and “Too Hot ta Trot”. The Commodores have sold over 70 million albums worldwide.
Slippery When Wet – The Song
‘Slippery When Wet’ is a 1975 single by American band The Commodores. It was the group’s first single to reach number one on the soul singles chart and was their second Top 40 Pop single. The track is from their second album Caught in the Act. The song was written by Commodores lead guitarist, Thomas McClary.
Man Slipping – The Shape
Modelled into the silhouette of a man slipping on a puddle. Inspired by the warning sign informing people that they should pay attention when walking on a wet and slippery ground not to fall down and get injured. A warning sign is a type of sign which indicates a potential hazard, obstacle, or condition requiring special attention. Some are traffic signs that indicate hazards on roads that may not be readily apparent to a driver. While warning traffic sign designs vary, they usually take the shape of an equilateral triangle with a white background and thick red border.
