Talk Talk – The Artist/s

Talk Talk were an English band formed in 1981, led by Mark Hollis (vocals, guitar, piano), Lee Harris (drums), and Paul Webb (bass). The group achieved early chart success with the synth-pop singles “Talk Talk” (1982), “It’s My Life”, and “Such a Shame” (both 1984) before moving towards a more experimental approach in the mid-1980s, pioneering what became known as post-rock. Talk Talk achieved widespread critical success in Europe and the UK with the singles “Life’s What You Make It” (1985), and “Living in Another World” (1986), and in 1988 they released their fourth album Spirit of Eden, which was critically acclaimed yet commercially less successful. Friction with the band’s label, EMI, resulted in legal action and countersuing. Webb departed, and the band switched to Polydor for their final studio album, 1991’s Laughing Stock, but split soon afterwards.

Talk Talk – The Song

‘Talk Talk’  is a 1982 song by the British Syth Pop band Talk Talk. The second single from their debut album, The Party’s Over (1982), it topped at no. 52 in the United Kingdom upon initial release. A remix of the song was released later in the same year where it peaked at no. 23 in the UK and number 75 in the United States. The song was originally recorded by singer Mark Hollis’s previous band, The Reaction, as “Talk Talk Talk Talk”, on the Beggars Banquet punk compilation Streets.

The Speech Balloon  – The Shape

This record has been modelled into two Speech balloons. Speech balloons (also speech bubbles, dialogue balloons, or word balloons) are a graphic convention used most commonly in comic books, comics, and cartoons to allow words (and much less often, pictures) to be understood as representing the speech or thoughts of a given character in the comic. Often, a formal distinction is made between the balloon that indicates thoughts and the one that indicates words spoken aloud; the balloon that conveys thoughts is often referred to as a thought bubble or conversation cloud.
