Ian Dury & The Blockheads – The Artist

Ian Robins Dury (1942 – 2000) was an English singer-songwriter and actor who rose to fame during the late 1970s, during the punk and new wave era of rock music. He was the lead singer of Ian Dury and the Blockheads and before that of Kilburn and the High Roads. Dury’s lyrics are a combination of lyrical poetry, word play, observation of British everyday life, character sketches, and sexual humour.

There Ain’t Half Been Some Clever Bastards – The Song

‘There Ain’t Half Been Some Clever Bastards’ is a song and single by Ian Dury and the Blockheads, originally released in 1978 on Stiff Records. It was written by Dury and the Blockheads’ multi-instrumentalist Chaz Jankeand. It was the b-side of their single, ‘You Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick. Lyrically the song references various clever people through history such as the English playwright, composer, director, actor and singer Noel Coward. The Dutch post-impressionist painter, Van Gogh, the Italian artist, Leonardo da Vinci and German-born theoretical physicist, Albert Einstein.

Albert Einstein – The Shape

This record has been modelled into the side profile of Albert Einstein.  Albert Einstein 1879 – 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). His work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science. He is best known to the general public for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2, which has been dubbed “the world’s most famous equation”. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics “for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect”, a pivotal step in the development of quantum theory.
