Additional information about this Lou Reed vinyl art.

Lou Reed – The Artist

Lewis Allan Reed (1942 – 2013) was an American musician, singer, songwriter and poet. He was the lead guitarist, singer and principal songwriter for the rock band the Velvet Underground and had a solo career that spanned five decades. The Velvet Underground were not a commercial success during their existence, but are now regarded as one of the most influential bands in the history of underground and alternative rock music. After leaving the band in 1970, Reed released twenty solo studio albums. His second, Transformer (1972), was produced by David Bowie and arranged by Mick Ronson, and brought mainstream recognition.

Vicious – The Song

Vicious is a song written by Lou Reed, released as a single in 1973 and originally featured on Transformer, Reed’s second post-Velvet Underground solo album. Lou Reed told Rolling Stone that Andy Warhol inspired the song: “He said, ‘Why don’t you write a song called ‘Vicious’? And I said, ‘What kind of vicious?’ ‘Oh, you know, vicious like I hit you with a flower.’ And I wrote it down literally.”

Female Skull – The Shape

This record has been modelled into the shape of a female skull with a bow. The bow is used to define the sexuality of the skull. The shoelace knot, or bow knot, is commonly used for tying shoelaces and bow ties.
The shoelace knot is a doubly slipped reef knot formed by joining the ends of whatever is being tied with a half hitch, folding each of the exposed ends into a loop (bight) and joining the loops with a second half hitch. The size of the loops and the length of the exposed ends are adjusted when the knot is tied. It has the stability of the reef knot but is significantly easier to untie, simply by pulling the ends away from the centre of the knot. The loops are sometimes referred to as “bunny ears”, especially when the knot is taught to children.
