Van Halen – The Artist

Van Halen is an American hard rock band formed in Pasadena, California in 1972. The band is known for its energetic live shows and for the work of its acclaimed lead guitarist, Eddie Van Halen. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. From 1974 until 1985, the members consisted of Eddie Van Halen; Eddie’s brother, drummer Alex; vocalist David Lee Roth; and bassist Michael Anthony. Upon its release, the band’s self-titled debut album reached No. 19 on the Billboard pop music charts. By the early 1980s, Van Halen was one of the most successful rock acts of the time. The album 1984 was a hit; its lead single, “Jump”, is the band’s only U.S. number one single to date and was internationally known. The band has sold 56 million albums in the States and more than 80 million worldwide.

Why Can’t This Be Love – The Song

‘Why Can’t This Be Love’ is a song by the American rock band Van Halen for their seventh studio album, 5150 (1986). The song was released as the lead single from 5150 on February 26, 1986, through Warner Bros. Records. It was the group’s first single with lead vocalist Sammy Hagar, who replaced founding member David Lee Roth. It was released on both 7″ and 12″ single formats, the 12″ single featuring an extended version of the song. The song is driven by bouncy lead keyboard work from Eddie Van Halen performed on an Oberheim OB-8. It was an international hit and help the albums success.

The EVH “Frankenstrat” Guitar – The Shape

This record has been modelled into lead guitarist, Eddie’s signature and iconic guitar, the EVH “Frankenstrat”. Eddie built this guitar himself in 1974. He had an idea to make something of a crossover between a Fender and a Gibson; he liked the tremolo and the looks of a Fender, but he preferred Gibson sound. The red, white and black irregular pattern on the guitar has become popular in its own right and can be found on clothing and furnishing fabrics as well as guitars
