Pet Shop Boys – The Artist

Pet Shop Boys are an English synth-pop duo, formed in London in 1981 and consisting of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. Pet Shop Boys have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and are listed as the most successful duo in UK music history by The Guinness Book of Records. Three-time Brit Award winners and six-time Grammy nominees, since 1985 they have achieved 42 Top 30 singles, 22 of them Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart, including four UK number ones: “West End Girls, “It’s a Sin”, a synthpop version of “Always on My Mind”, and “Heart”. Other hit songs include a cover of “Go West”, “Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money)” and “What Have I Done to Deserve This?” in a duet with Dusty Springfield.

Always On My Mind – The Song

‘Always On My Mind’ is a cover version a love song written by Wayne Carson, Johnny Christopher, and Mark James, first recorded by B.J. Thomas in 1970, and first released by Gwen McCrae (as “You Were Always on My Mind”) in 1972. It has been released by many artists including Elvis Presley, John Wesley Ryles and Willie Nelson. In 1987, the Pet Shop Boys performed a synth-pop version of “Always on My Mind” on Love Me Tender, a television special on the ITV network in the United Kingdom. Commemorating the tenth anniversary of Presley’s death, the programme featured various popular acts of the time performing cover versions of his songs. The Pet Shop Boys’ performance was so well-received that the duo decided to record the song and release it as a single.

The Human Brain – The Shape

This record has been modelled into the silhouette of the human head showing the human brain. The human brain is the central organ of the human nervous system, and with the spinal cord makes up the central nervous system. The brain consists of the cerebrum, the brainstem and the cerebellum. It controls most of the activities of the body, processing, integrating, and coordinating the information it receives from the sense organs, and making decisions as to the instructions sent to the rest of the body. The brain is contained in, and protected by, the skull bones of the head.
