Additional information about this, Christopher Cross vinyl art.

Christopher Cross – The Artist

Christopher Cross (born Christopher Charles Geppert; 1951) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and composer from San Antonio, Texas. Cross won five Grammy Awards for his eponymous debut album released in 1979. He is best know for the singles “Sailing” (1980), “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” (from the 1981 film Arthur) and “Ride Like The Wind”. “Arthur’s Theme” won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981 (with co-composers Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen).

Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do) – The Song

Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)  is a song performed and co-written by American singer-songwriter Christopher Cross, which was the main theme for the 1981 film Arthur starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli. The song won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981. It was a worldwide hit. The B-side of the record, “Minstrel Gigolo”, was the same song used on the back of Cross’s debut single, “Ride Like the Wind”. Indie pop band Fitz and the Tantrums recorded a cover of this song for the soundtrack to the 2011 remake of the film.

The Top Hat – The Shape

This record has been cut into a gentlemen’s top hat as worn by Dudley Moore in the film, Arthur. A top hat (also called a high hat, a cylinder hat, or a topper) is a tall, flat-crowned hat for men traditionally associated with formal wear in Western dress codes, meaning white tie, morning dress, or frock coat. Traditionally made of black silk or sometimes grey, the top hat emerged in Western fashion by the end of the 18th century. Although it declined by the time of the counterculture of the 1960s, it remains a formal fashion accessory.

Arthur is a 1981 American comedy film written and directed by Steve Gordon. It stars Dudley Moore as Arthur Bach, a drunken New York City billionaire who is on the brink of an arranged marriage to a wealthy heiress, but ends up falling for a common working-class girl from Queens, Linda Marolla played by Liza Minnelli. The film was one of the highest-grossing film of 1981. Its title song, “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)”, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Co-written by Christopher Cross, Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager and Peter Allen, it was performed by Christopher Cross. Sir John Gielgud also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. It was nominated for two other Academy Awards.
