The Artist

Elvis Presley was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply “the King”. With a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records, he became the leading figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll. His energised interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across colour lines during a transformative era in race relations, made him enormously popular—and controversial. Presley is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century. Commercially successful in many genres, including pop, country, blues, and gospel, he is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music.

The Song

Good Luck Charm is a song recorded by Elvis Presley and published by Gladys Music. It reached number 1 in the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100 list. The song was written by Aaron Schroeder and Wally Gold. A good luck charm is an amulet or other item that is believed to bring good luck. In the song Elvis Presley sings, “Come on and be my little good luck charm” with reference to his sweetheart.

Elvis Presley – The Shape

Modelled into the singing, crouched Elvis Presley wearing an example of his famous Las Vegas stage-wear. He originally wore these decorated, style-defining jumpsuits for functionality so he could comfortably sing and dance while performing live at his shows. Apparently Elvis Presley was a black belt in karate, and wanted to incorporate karate moves into his performance and the jumpsuit made this possible. His most famous jumpsuit was the ‘Concho Jumpsuit’, which was an early example of Elvis’ legendary Las Vegas stage-wear.

Las Vegas, officially the City of Las Vegas and often known simply as Vegas, is the 25th-most populous city in the United States, the most populous city in the state of Nevada, and the county seat of Clark County. The city anchors the Las Vegas Valley metropolitan area and is the largest city within the greater Mojave Desert. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city, known primarily for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife. The Las Vegas Valley as a whole serves as the leading financial, commercial, and cultural centre for Nevada.
