Adam Ant – The Artist

Stuart Leslie Goddard, better known as Adam Ant (born November 1954), is an English singer, musician, and actor. He gained popularity as the lead singer of new wave group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three UK No. 1 singles. From 1977 to 1982 he performed with Adam and the Ants, and their debut album Dirk Wears White Sox (1979) reached number one on the UK Independent Albums Chart. Prior to recording his second album as Adam and the Ants, he asked producer Malcolm McLaren to manage his band, who instead took his backing band to form Bow Wow Wow. Ant regrouped with new members, including Marco Pirroni, to release his second album Kings of the Wild Frontier (1980). It reached number one in the UK Album Chart, spawned three hit singles, became the UK number-one selling album in 1981. He released his third and final album with the group, Prince Charming (1981), which spawned two UK number-one singles “Stand and Deliver” and “Prince Charming”. In 1982, he disbanded his group for a solo career retaining only Marco Pirroni as a band member and co-songwriter for later solo albums. His first solo album was Friend or Foe (1982), from which the debut single “Goody Two Shoes”

Goody Two Shoes – The Song

“Goody Two Shoes”  is the debut 1982 solo single by Adam Ant, after he split from his band ‘Adam and the Ants’. It was the first single from his album, “Friend Or Foe’. When Adam Ant disbanded his group for a solo career he retained friend and guitarist, Marco Pirroni as a band member and co-songwriter for this and his later solo albums. Adam wrote this song when dealing with an everlasting intrusion by the press. They were always asking about his personal life, which was great fodder for the tabloids. Adam Ant was a very intriguing character with a colourful past, and while he sought out attention for his act, he preferred to keep his personal life private. By the ’80s, his only vice was sex – no drugs, alcohol or even cigarettes for Adam Ant. This led to predictable questions from the press wondering if he didn’t drink or smoke, then what exactly did he do? It seemed hard to believe that such an outrageous persona belonged to a teetotaler, but it was true. Reporters were often shocked to discover that Ant was very measured and reasonable in interviews – nothing like the warpaint wearing wild-man who showed up on stage.

The Prefect Badge – The Shape

This record has been modelled into a typical School prefect badge. In the context of schools, a prefect is a pupil who has been given certain responsibilities in the school, similar to the responsibilities given to a hall monitor or safety patrol members. Prefects are usually voted into the position and are considered to be very good in terms of following school rules and not doing anything considered wrong or a vice. This badge is styled similar to the Gryffindor Prefect pin badge made famous in the Harry Potter Series of books and films.
