Tottenham Hotspur F.A. Cup Squad 1986/87 Season With Chas & Dave – The Artist/s

Chas & Dave (often billed as Chas ‘n’ Dave) were an English pop rock duo, formed in London by Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock. They were most notable as creators and performers of a musical style labelled rockney (a portmanteau of rock and cockney), which mixes “pub singalong, music-hall humour, boogie-woogie piano and pre-Beatles rock ‘n’ roll”. For a time, Rockney was also the name of their record label.

Hot Shot Tottenham! – The Song

Hot Shot Tottenham!” was written by Hodges and Peacock and released by the English football team Tottenham Hotspur, accompanied by Chas & Dave, to celebrate reaching the 1987 FA Cup Final (which Tottenham lost to Coventry City). It reached number 18 in the UK Singles Chart.

The Football / Soccer Shirt – The Shape

In association football, kit (also referred to as a strip or uniform) is the standard equipment and attire worn by players. Footballers generally wear identifying numbers on the backs of their shirts. Originally a team of players wore numbers from 1 to 11, corresponding roughly to their playing positions, but at the professional level this has generally been superseded by squad numbering, whereby each player in a squad is allocated a fixed number for the duration of a season. Professional clubs also usually display players’ surnames or nicknames on their shirts, above their squad numbers. Football kit has evolved significantly since the early days of the sport and advances in clothing manufacture and printing allowed shirts to be made in lighter synthetic fibres with increasingly colourful and complex designs. With the rise of advertising in the 20th century, sponsors’ logos began to appear on shirts, and replica strips were made available for fans to purchase, generating significant amounts of revenue for clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to as Tottenham or Spurs, is an English professional football club in Tottenham, London, that competes in the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been the club’s home ground since April 2019, replacing their former home of White Hart Lane, which had been demolished to make way for the new stadium on the same site. Their training ground is on Hotspur Way in Bulls Cross in the London Borough of Enfield. The club is owned by ENIC Group. Tottenham have played in a first (home) strip of white shirts and navy blue shorts since the 1898–99 season. The club’s emblem is a cockerel standing upon a football, with a Latin motto Audere est Facere (“To Dare Is to Do”).
