I’m Still Standing – The Song

‘I’m Still Standing’ is a song by British rock musician Elton John, from his Platinum-certified 1983 album, Too Low for Zero. John said this was “my reaction to still being relevant and successful in the early 1980s, post-punk and with the New Romantics creeping in. Helped by a successful video it became big hit on both sides of the Atlantic.

Elton played this song along with a host of famous faces as part of a virtual concert to celebrate healthcare works (inc. The National Health Service in the UK) who are working bravely during the Worldwide Coronavirus pandemic. The Concert was organised by singer Lady Gaga, The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the non-profit group Global Citizen. Called ‘The One World: Together At Home Event’ it was live streamed online and broadcast on TV on Saturday the 18th April 2020. It is the biggest celebrity effort to entertain millions of people in lockdown because of COVID-19.
