Grace Jones – The Artist
Grace Beverly Jones (born 1948) is a Jamaican-American supermodel, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. Born in Jamaica she moved to New York to work as a model and in 1977 embarked on a music career. In the early 1980s, she moved toward a new wave style that drew on reggae, funk, post-punk and pop music. Since then she has worked in film and production.
La Vie En Rose – The Song
La Vie En Rose was the signature song of popular French singer Édith Piaf, written in 1945, popularised in 1946, and released as a single in 1947. “La Vie en rose” has been covered by many other artists over the years, including Donna Summer, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong and Grace Jones. The song’s title can be translated as “Life in happy hues”, “Life seen through happy lenses”, “Life in rosy hues”; its literal meaning is “Life in Pink”

The Accordion is a family of box-shaped musical instruments of the bellows-driven free-reed aerophone type, colloquially referred to as a squeezebox. Édith Piaf (born Édith Giovanna Gassion, 1915 – 1963) was a French singer-songwriter, cabaret performer and film actress noted as France’s national chanteuse and one of the country’s most widely known international stars. Piaf’s music was often autobiographical, and she specialised in chanson and torch ballads about love, loss and sorrow. Her most widely known songs include “La Vie en rose” (1946), “Non, je ne regrette rien” (1960), “Hymne à l’amour” (1949), “Milord” (1959), “La Foule” (1957), “L’Accordéoniste” (1940), and “Padam, padam…” (1951).
