Prince And The Revolution – The Artist

Prince ( 1958 – 2016) was an American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and filmmaker. Prince was known for his eclectic work, flamboyant stage presence, extravagant fashion sense and use of makeup, and wide vocal range. Prince was also a multi-instrumentalist; considered a guitar virtuoso, he was also skilled at playing the drums, percussion, bass, keyboards, and synthesiser. His innovative music integrated a wide variety of styles, including funk, rock, R&B, new wave, soul, psychedelia, and pop. He sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

The Revolution are an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota and assembled in 1979 by Prince. Although widely associated with rock music, the band’s sound incorporated rhythm and blues, pop, funk, and psychedelia elements. Before their official breakup, the Revolution had released two studio albums, two soundtracks, and two videos. The band is known for its many members, varied in race and gender.

Let’s Go Crazy – The Song

Let’s Go Crazy is a 1984 song by Prince and The Revolution, from the album Purple Rain. It was the opening track on both the album and the film Purple Rain. Let’s Go Crazy was one of Prince’s most popular songs, and was a staple for concert performances, often segueing into other hits. Common too much of Prince’s writing, the song is thought to be exhortation to follow Christian ethics, with the “De-elevator” of the lyrics being a metaphor for the Devil.

The Prince Cloud Guitar – The Shape

Prince had custom made an electric guitar modelled into the ‘cloud’ shape that he also used as his name / symbol.

Purple Rain is a 1984 American rock musical drama film directed by Albert Magnoli, written by Magnoli and William Blinn, and produced by Robert Cavallo, Joseph Ruffalo and Steven Fargnoli. The film stars Prince in his acting debut playing “The Kid,” a quasi-biographical character. Purple Rain was developed to showcase Prince’s talents, and the film contains several concert sequences.
