An individual, limited edition, example of vinyl record art made from a genuine, original, 45rpm, 7” single featuring the song by the French electronic musician and composer, Jean Michel Jarre from 1977, Oxygène (Part 4). The record was released on the Polydor record label, in the UK, and has been reworked into the shape of the alien form on Oxygène 7-13.

Jarre composed the album Oxygène over a period of eight months using a number of analogue synthesizers and an eight-track recorder set up in the kitchen of his apartment. The tracks were simply listed as parts 1-6. He released parts 4 and 6 as singles. Although Dreyfus, the publisher, was initially skeptical about electronic music, he gambled by pressing a run of 50,000 copies. The album went on to sell 15 million copies. Jarre subsequently wrote a follow up album called Oxygène  7-13.
