Additional information about this Duran Duran vinyl art.

Duran Duran – The Artist

Duran Duran are an English new wave and synthpop band formed in Birmingham in 1978. The band grew from alternative sensations in 1982 to mainstream pop stars by 1984. The group was formed by keyboardist Nick Rhodes and bass guitarist John Taylor, with the later addition of drummer Roger Taylor, and after numerous personnel changes, guitarist Andy Taylor and lead singer Simon Le Bon. These five members featured the most commercially successful line-up. The band achieved 14 singles in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart and 21 in the Billboard Hot 100, and have sold over 100 million records worldwide.

Planet Earth – The Song

Planet Earth is the debut single by the English pop rock band Duran Duran, released in 1981. It was an immediate hit in the UK and almost everywhere in the world. The song later appeared on their eponymous debut album, Duran Duran, that was sealed later in the same year. Beginning with “Planet Earth“, the band began creating what they called “night versions” for each of their songs: extended versions that were featured on their 12-inch singles. Back in 1981, the technology to do extended remixes was still quite rudimentary, so the band chose instead to create a new arrangement of the song, loosely based on the version they were playing live at the time. This formed the basis for the “night version”.

The Terrestrial Globe – The Shape

This record has been modelled into a world globe on a stand. A globe is a spherical model of Earth. Globes serve similar purposes to maps, but unlike maps, do not distort the surface that they portray except to scale it down. A globe of Earth is called a terrestrial globe. A globe of the celestial sphere is called a celestial globe. A globe is often mounted on a stand and able to spin. They are often used in schools and collages as educational aids or decorative versions are used as ornaments.
