Additional information about this, The Psychedelic Furs vinyl art.

Psychedelic Furs – The Artist

The Psychedelic Furs are a British post-punk band founded in London in February 1977. Led by singer Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass guitar, the Psychedelic Furs are one of the many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene. Their music went through several phases, from an initially austere art rock sound, to later touching on new wave and hard rock. The band had several hits in their early career. In 1986, filmmaker John Hughes used their song “Pretty in Pink” for his film of the same name. They went on hiatus after they finished touring in 1992, but resumed in 2000 and continue to perform live.

Pretty In Pink – The Song

Pretty In Pink is a song by the English band the Psychedelic Furs, originally released in 1981 as a single from the band’s second album, Talk Talk Talk. The 1986 film was named after the song and a re-recorded version of the song was included on its soundtrack. The original version of “Pretty in Pink” peaked at No. 43 on the UK Singles Chart in July 1981.AllMusic writer Bill Janovitz credited producer Steve Lillywhite for finding “the ideal sound for the band, with a perfect blend of classic pop, punk, and art rock elements”. Janovitz called it “the definitive take” of the song.

The Five Pointed Star – The Shape

This record is modelled into a star polygon or a five-pointed star. A shape that has become sun-ominous with the band and is used on their promotional material and merchandise of the time.

Pretty in Pink is a 1986 American teen romantic comedy-drama film about love and social cliques in American high schools in the 1980s. A cult classic, it is commonly identified as a “Brat Pack” film. It was directed by Howard Deutch, produced by Lauren Shuler Donner, and written by John Hughes, who also served as co-executive producer. The film was named after a song by the Psychedelic Furs, and the film’s soundtrack, which has been acclaimed as among the most brilliant in modern cinema, features a re-recorded version of the song.
