The Four Seasons – The Artist/s
The Four Seasons (The 4 Seasons) are an American band formed in 1960 in Newark, New Jersey. Since 1970, they have also been known at times as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. They are one of the best-selling musical groups of all time, having sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide. The band evolved out of a previous band called the Four Lovers, with Frankie Valli on lead vocals, Bob Gaudio on keyboards and vocals, Tommy DeVito on guitar and vocals, and Nick Massi on bass and vocals. The Four Seasons had two distinct eras of widespread success: the 1960s, during which Massi departed in 1965, and was replaced initially by Charles Calello and more permanently by Joe Long, and the mid- to late 1970s, with the lineup consisting of Valli, Don Ciccone (bass and vocals), John Paiva (guitar and vocals), Gerry Polci (drums and vocals), and Lee Shapiro (keyboards), with Gaudio still working with the band as a non-performing songwriter and producer. All of the members during the band’s hit making eras hailed from the state of New Jersey; they also are or were of Italian heritage[6] except Shapiro, who is Jewish.
Ragdoll – The Song
‘Ragdoll’ is is a popular song written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio. It was recorded by the Four Seasons and released as a single in 1964. According to songwriter Bob Gaudio, the recording was inspired by an occasion involving the homeless children who, at stop lights in the city, would run into the street and clean windshields for spare change. In the Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan neighbourhood, a young girl with a dirty face and wearing ragged clothes approached Gaudio’s automobile. When he reached into his wallet to pay her, he found that none of the notes were smaller than $10. He gave the girl a $10 bill. The image of her stuck in my head until I wrote ‘Rag Doll'”, Gaudio recalled in a 2009 interview.
The Ragdoll – The Shape
This record has been crafted into the silhouette of a ragdoll. A rag doll is a doll made from scraps of fabric. They are one of the oldest children’s toys in existence. Today, many rag dolls are commercially produced to mimic aspects of the original home-made dolls, such as simple features, soft cloth bodies, and patchwork clothing.
