Johnny and the Hurricanes – The Artist
Johnny and the Hurricanes was an American instrumental rock band from Toledo, Ohio, United States.[1] They specialized in adapting popular traditional melodies into the rock idiom, using organ and saxophone as their featured instruments on their hits, and guitar lead on the B sides. Between 1958 and 1963, the group had a number of hits in both the US and the UK, and developed a following in Europe. In 1962, they played at the Star-Club in Hamburg, where the Beatles, then a little-known band, were an opening act. The band continued as a live act through 2005; leader Johnny Paris died in 2006. The musicians in the band then were Johnny Paris (1940 – 2006) on saxophone, Paul Tesluk (1940 – 2022) on a Hammond Chord organ, Dave Yorko (1943 – 2017) on guitar, Lionel “Butch” Mattice (1939 – 2006) on bass, and Bill “Little Bo” Savich 1939 – 2002) on drums.
Rocking Goose- The Song
‘Rocking Goose’ is a instrumental song by Johnny and the Hurricanes. They specialised in versions of old tunes with a rock and roll beat. They chose these songs because they were well recognized and easier to accept with the beat, as well as many were in public domain and the composer royalty could be paid to management people. Tunes were credited to ‘King, Mack’ and usually one other name: King and Mack were in fact pseudonyms for Harry Balk and Irving Micahnik, the band’s managers.
The Goose – The Shape
This record has been modelled into a typical goose. A goose is a bird of any of several waterfowl species in the family Anatidae. This group comprises the genera Anser (grey geese and white geese) and Branta (black geese). Some members of the Tadorninae subfamily (e.g., Egyptian goose, Orinoco goose) are commonly called geese, but are not considered “true geese” taxonomically. More distantly related members of the family Anatidae are swans, most of which are larger than true geese, and ducks, which are smaller. The term “goose” may refer to such bird of either sex, but when paired with “gander”, “goose” refers specifically to a female one (“gander” referring to a male). Young birds before fledging are called goslings. The collective noun for a group of geese on the ground is a gaggle; when in flight, they are called a skein, a team, or a wedge; when flying close together, they are called a plump.
