Additional information about this Frankie Ford vinyl art.

Frankie Ford – The Artist

Frankie Ford (1939 – 2015) was an American rock and roll and rhythm and blues singer, best known for his 1959 hit “Sea Cruise”. Taking the stage name Frankie Ford, he made his first recordings for Ace in 1958. He toured locally in Louisiana, before recording a vocal overdub on the song “Sea Cruise”, a song written and originally recorded by Huey “Piano” Smith with his group, the Clowns, and featuring overdubbed bells and ships’ horns. As Smith already had a record in the charts, and was away touring, the record label decided to release Ford’s version, and it became an international hit.

Sea Cruise – The Song

Sea Cruise is a song written and originally recorded by Huey “Piano” Smith with his group, the Clowns in 1959 but was a major hit for Frankie Ford. It was first released in 1959 but has been subsequently been reissued a number of times

The Cruise Ship – The Shape

This record has been crafted into an ocean going vintage cruise ship. Cruise ships are large passenger ships used mainly for vacationing. Unlike ocean liners, which are used for transport, they typically embark on round-trip voyages to various ports-of-call, where passengers may go on tours known as “shore excursions”. On “cruises to nowhere” or “nowhere voyages”, cruise ships make two- to three-night round trips without visiting any ports of call.
