Guns N’ Roses – The Artist

Guns N’ Roses, often abbreviated as GNR, is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1985. When they signed to Geffen Records in 1986, the band comprised vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler. The current lineup consists of Rose, Slash, McKagan, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer and keyboardist Melissa Reese. In their early years, the band’s hedonism and rebelliousness drew comparisons to the early Rolling Stones and earned them the nickname “the most dangerous band in the world.” Guns N’ Roses have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, including 45 million in the United States.

Sweet Child O’ Mine – The Song

Sweet Child O’ Mine is a song by American rock band Guns N’ Roses. It appeared on their debut album Appetite for Destruction. The song was released in August 1988 as the album’s third singles became the band’s only number 1 US single. It was re-released in 1989, it reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. Axel Rose based the song on his girlfriend Erin Everly, and declared that Lynyrd Skynyrd served as an inspiration. The song is particularly well know for its guitar solo.

Les Paul Guitar – The Shape

This record has been modelled into a Les Paul Guitar as favoured by lead guitarist Slash (Saul Hudson) from the band. The Gibson Les Paul is a solid body electric guitar that was first sold by the Gibson Guitar Corporation in 1952. The Les Paul was designed by Gibson president Ted McCarty, factory manager John Huis and their team, with some input from, and endorsement by, guitarist Les Paul. Its typical design features a solid mahogany body with a carved maple top and a single cutaway, a mahogany set-in neck with a rosewood fretboard, two pickups with independent volume and tone controls, and a stoptail bridge, although variants exist.

It’s a Xmas present for my son, so he hasn’t seen it yet. I think it’s fantastic, and I know he will love it.
