Rick Astley – The Artists
Richard Paul Astley (born 1966) is an English singer, songwriter and radio personality. His 1987 song “Never Gonna Give You Up” was a number 1 hit single in 25 countries and won the 1988 Brit Award for Best British Single. By the time of his retirement in 1993, Astley had sold approximately 40 million records worldwide.
Take Me To Your Heart – The Song
Take Me To Your Heart is a 1988 song recorded by English singer-songwriter Rick Astley. Written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, the song was released the same year as the second single from the album, Hold Me in Your Arms. A small amount of controversy was raised around the synthesiser programming similarities of “Big Fun”, the hit single recorded by American band Inner City, and Astley’s “Take Me to Your Heart”. Writer and producer Matt Aitken has confirmed the Astley track was inspired by the Inner City song, but added that “you can’t copyright a synth pattern,” and claimed, “we wrote a better song [than Inner City] did”
The Heart – The Shape
This record has been crafted into the silhouette of a heart. The heart shape and its meaning has evolved over hundreds of years. Nowadays it means love but before the 13th and 14th centuries it was generally drawn for decorative purposes. People at that time thought of our hearts as books of memory and believed feelings for the beloved were somehow written on your heart.
