Tony Orlando and Dawn is an American pop music group that was popular in the 1970s. Their signature hits include “Knock Three Times” and “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree”. Tony Orlando was a recording artist, producer and music executive. While working as a music executive Orlando put together some backing vocalists, Telma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent Wilson and toured as Dawn featuring Tony Orlando. In the studio they were joined by Pamela Vincent, who sang and arranged the backing vocals.

Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree  is a song by Tony Orlando and Dawn. It was written by Irwin Levine and L. Russell Brown and produced by Hank Medress and Dave Appell, with Motown/Stax backing vocalist Telma Hopkins, Joyce Vincent Wilson and her sister Pamela Vincent on backing vocals. It was a worldwide hit for the group in 1973. The song is told from the point of view of someone who has “done his time” but is uncertain if he will be welcomed home. The origin of the idea of a yellow ribbon as remembrance may have been the 19th-century practice that some women allegedly had of wearing a yellow ribbon in their hair to signify their devotion to a husband or sweetheart serving in the U.S. Cavalry.

The Acorn – The Shape

It usually contains a single seed (occasionally two seeds), enclosed in a tough, leathery shell, and borne in a cup-shaped cupule. Acorns are 1–6 cm long and 0.8–4 cm broad. Acorns take between 6 and 24 months (depending on the species) to mature.
