Additional information about this, The Vapors vinyl art.

The Vapors – The Artist

The Vapors are an English new wave and power pop band that initially existed between 1978 and 1981. They had a hit with the song “Turning Japanese”, which reached No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart in 1980. After 34 years of inactivity, David Fenton, Ed Bazelgette and Steve Smith appeared on stage at the Half Moon in Putney in 2016. With a guest drummer standing in for Howard Smith, they played “Turning Japanese” and then left the stage. In March 2020, The Vapors announced that they would be releasing a new album titled Together and released a new single “Crazy.”. Together was released on May 15, 2020, being the first album The Vapors released in 39 years and marking one of the longest gaps between studio albums.

Turning Japanese – The Song

‘Turning Japanese’ is a song written by David Fenton of The Vapors, Turning Japanese has all the clichés about angst and youth and turning into something you didn’t expect to. It was their second single and taken from their debut album, New Clear Days. It features predominately a Oriental riff and is their best known song.

The Japanese Rising Sun Flag  – The Shape

This record is modelled into the Japanese rising sun. The Rising Sun Flag was originally used by feudal warlords in Japan during the Edo period (1603–1868 CE). On May 15, 1870, as a policy of the Meiji government, it was adopted as the war flag of the Imperial Japanese Army, and on October 7, 1889, it was adopted as the naval ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It is still used in Japan as a symbol of tradition and good fortune, and is incorporated into commercial products and advertisements. A modified flag is flown by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and a different version is flown by the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.
