Tottenham Hotspur with Chas & Dave – The Artist/s

Chas & Dave (often billed as Chas ‘n’ Dave) were an English pop rock duo, formed in London by Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock. They were most notable as creators and performers of a musical style labelled rockney (a portmanteau of rock and cockney), which mixes “pub singalong, music-hall humour, boogie-woogie piano and pre-Beatles rock ‘n’ roll”. For a time, Rockney was also the name of their record label.

When The Year Ends in 1 – The Song

‘When The Year Ends in 1’ was a single released by the English football team Tottenham Hotspur, with uncredited accompaniment by Chas & Dave, to celebrate reaching the 1991 FA Cup Final. It reached number 44 in the UK Singles Chart. The title of the song refers to the fact that during the twentieth century, the club won a number of major trophies, in particular the FA Cup, several times in years ending in 1. They continued the trend by going on to win the 1991 Final. “When the year ends in 1” has become a general superstition for supporters, although Tottenham have not won a trophy in such a year since 1991.

The Tottenham Hotspur Shield – The Shape

This record has been modelled into the Tottenham Hotspur shield with the Tottenham cockerel cut into it.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to as Tottenham or Spurs, is an English professional football club in Tottenham, London, that competes in the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been the club’s home ground since April 2019, replacing their former home of White Hart Lane, which had been demolished to make way for the new stadium on the same site. Their training ground is on Hotspur Way in Bulls Cross in the London Borough of Enfield. The club is owned by ENIC Group. Tottenham have played in a first (home) strip of white shirts and navy blue shorts since the 1898–99 season. The club’s emblem is a cockerel standing upon a football, with a Latin motto Audere est Facere (“To Dare Is to Do”).
