Erasure – The Artist/s

Erasure are an English synth-pop duo, consisting of singer and songwriter Andy Bell and songwriter and keyboardist Vince Clarke. They formed in London in 1985. Their debut single was “Who Needs Love Like That”. From their fourth single, “Sometimes”, the duo established themselves on the UK Singles Chart, becoming one of the most successful artists of the late 1980s to mid-1990s. From 1986 to 2007, Erasure achieved 24 consecutive Top 40 hits in the UK. By 2009, 34 of their 37 chart-eligible singles and EPs had made the UK Top 40, with 17 climbing into the Top 10. At the 1989 Brit Awards, Erasure won the Brit Award for Best British Group. The duo is most popular in their native UK and mainland Europe. The band is also popular within the LGBT community, for whom the openly gay Bell has become an icon. Erasure have penned over 200 songs and have sold over 25 million albums worldwide.

You Surround Me – The Song

“You Surround Me“ is a song by English synth-pop duo Erasure that was issued in November 1989 by Mute Records as the second single from the band’s fourth studio album, Wild! (1989). Written by the duo’s Vince Clarke and Andy Bell, it is a heavily synthesised ballad with a dramatic chorus featuring Bell’s falsetto. Upon release, “You Surround Me” became Erasure’s tenth consecutive top 20 hit on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at #15. It reached #10 on the Irish singles chart, and became a top 40 hit in Germany, where it reached #38.

The Star – The Shape

This record has been crafted into the silhouette of a star. A star is type of astronomical object consisting of a luminous spheroid of plasma held together by its own gravity. The nearest star to Earth is the Sun. Many other stars are visible to the naked eye from Earth during the night, appearing as a multitude of fixed luminous points in the sky due to their immense distance from Earth.
