ABC – The Artist

ABC are an English pop band that formed in Sheffield in 1980. Their classic line-up consisted of lead singer Martin Fry, guitarist and keyboardist Mark White, saxophonist Stephen Singleton and drummer David Palmer. Developed from an earlier band, Vice Versa, ABC achieved ten UK and five US Top 40 hit singles between 1981 and 1990, and their 1982 debut album, The Lexicon of Love, was a UK number-one. Now essentially a solo project for Fry, ABC continues to tour and released a ninth studio album, The Lexicon of Love II, in 2016.

All Of My Heart – The Song

All Of My Heart is a song by English band ABC, released as a single in 1982 from their debut album. It was written collaboratively by Martin Fry, David Palmer, Stephen Singleton and Mark White from  the English new wave and synth-pop band ABC. It was taken from their debut studio album, The Lexicon of Love (1982). Considered by many as one of the best ABC tracks of the post-punk “new pop” era, described as ABC’s slickest and most gorgeous single, and yet also possibly their most bitter. Martin Fry alternates between open hearted and suspicious, warm and resentful with the turn of a phrase. The outro–a swirl of soundtrack strings, plucked bass, and cascading piano–is the most purely beautiful music of the era.

The Heart – The Shape

This record has been modelled into a loving heart. The heart shape and its meaning has evolved over hundreds of years. Nowadays it means love but before the 13th and 14th centuries it was generally drawn for decorative purposes. People at that time thought of our hearts as books of memory and believed feelings for the beloved were somehow written on your heart.
