An individual, limited edition, example of vinyl record silhouette art made from a genuine, original, 45rpm, 7” single of Babylon’s Burning from 1979, by The Ruts. Released on the Virgin record label, this vinyl single has been reworked into a silhouette of the famous blue tiled ‘Ishtar Gate’ which was the northern entrance to Babylon.

The Ruts were an English reggae-influenced punk rock band, notable for this 1979 UK Top 10 hit Babylon’s Burning, and an earlier, highly regarded, single, In a Rut.  They were active in anti-racist causes as part of the Misty in Roots People Unite collective based in Southall, West London and played several benefits for Rock Against Racism.
