An individual, limited edition, example of vinyl art made from a genuine, original, 45rpm, 7” single featuring the  single, Land of Confusion by Genesis. The record was released in 1986, on the Virgin record label and has been reworked into the silhouette of a custom Shergold twin headed guitar as played by guitarist Mike Rutherford on this record and their live shows.  As a tongue-in-cheek reference to Rutherford’s frequent use of this double-neck guitar, the puppet version of Rutherford in the music video for Land of Confusion plays a four-necked guitar.

A great framed gift for a friend or family member who is a fan of Genesis, Shergold guitars, twin headed guitars, or has a special memory linked to the song.

Genesis – The Artist/s

Genesis were an English rock band formed at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, in 1967. The most successful and longest-lasting line-up consisted of keyboardist Tony Banks, bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford and drummer/singer Phil Collins. Significant former members were original lead singer Peter Gabriel, and guitarists Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett. The band moved from folk music to progressive rock in the 1970s, before moving towards pop at the end of the decade. They have made worldwide sales of between 100 million and 150 million records.

Land of Confusion – The Song

‘Land of Confusion’ is a single by the English rock band Genesis, from their 1980 album Duke. It reached number 8 in the UK Singles Chart. The lyrics, by Mike Rutherford, concern a man who does nothing more than watch television. He becomes obsessed with the people he watches on it, believing them to be his friends.

Twin Headed Guitar – The Shape

Modelled into the silhouette of a Shergold Modulator custom double guitar as played by Mike Rutherford. A multi-neck, twin headed or double guitar is a guitar that has multiple fingerboard necks. They exist in both electric and acoustic versions. Although multi-neck guitars are quite common today, they are not a modern invention. Examples of multi-neck guitars and lutes go back at least to the Renaissance. Today, the most common type of multi-neck guitar is the double neck guitar, of which the most common version is an electric guitar with twelve strings on the upper neck, while the lower neck has the normal six. Combination six-string and bass guitar are also used, as well as a fretless guitar with a regular fretted guitar, or any other combination of guitar neck and pickup styles. There are also acoustic versions. Two necks allows the guitarist to switch quickly and easily between guitar sounds without taking the time to change guitars.

Shergold Guitars, or Shergold Woodcrafts Limited, is an English guitar manufacturing company established in October 1967 by former Burns London employees Jack Golder and Norman Houlder. Based in East London, the company moved from Forest Gate to Harold Wood in 1973. Shergold Guitars is currently a subsidiary of Barnes & Mullins since it was acquired it in 2015.
