Additional information about this Lou Reed vinyl art.

Lou Reed – The Artist

Lewis Allan Reed (1942 – 2013) was an American musician, singer, songwriter and poet. He was the lead guitarist, singer and principal songwriter for the rock band the Velvet Underground and had a solo career that spanned five decades. The Velvet Underground were not a commercial success during their existence, but are now regarded as one of the most influential bands in the history of underground and alternative rock music. After leaving the band in 1970, Reed released twenty solo studio albums. His second, Transformer (1972), was produced by David Bowie and arranged by Mick Ronson, and brought mainstream recognition.

Perfect Day – The Song

Perfect Day is a song written by Lou Reed in 1972. It was originally featured on Transformer, Reed’s second post-Velvet Underground solo album, and as a double A-side with his major hit, “Walk on the Wild Side”. Reed re-recorded the song for his 2003 album The Raven. A version by Duran Duran reached number 28 on the UK Singles Chart in 1995.

Wedding Bells – The Shape

This record has been modelled into the shape of two large wedding bells which are symbolic of church wedding as they are often rung as part of the service. A church bell in the Christian tradition is a bell which is rung in a church for a variety of ceremonial purposes, and can be heard outside the building. Traditionally they are used to call worshippers to the church for a communal service, and to announce the fixed times of daily Christian prayer, called the canonical hours, which number seven and are contained in breviaries. They are also rung on special occasions such as a wedding, or a funeral service. In some religious traditions they are used within the liturgy of the church service to signify to people that a particular part of the service has been reached. The ringing of church bells, in the Christian tradition, is also believed to drive out demons.
